It was 3am on a warm Monday morning. Rose Chambers grumbled as she smacked the blaring alarm clock on her night stand, her eyes barely opening. She laid still for another minute or two before gradually sitting up. She sat at the edge of the bed and stretched her limbs as she yawned, forcing herself to wake up. Today was the first day of her new job. She needed to be at CNC bank at 4am sharp. The manager wanted to go over the basics before the day started, then she would shadow the assistant manager for the rest of the day. Rose's stomach churned with excitement and nerves.

With a sigh, she stood up and walked toward the bathroom. She had showered the night before and laid out an outfit to speed up her morning routine. First, she brushed her teeth and washed her face, then she straightened her hair, applied light make-up, and pulled on her outfit. Her chestnut colored hair hung halfway down her back, her deep blue eyes framed with long black lashes, and her plump lips coated with clear gloss. Her outfit was simple, yet professional. She had on her black pencil skirt, a gray loose fitted shirt slightly tucked in, and a teal colored necklace. She had a pair of high heels that matched her jewelry, tying her outfit all together.

As she entered the kitchen, she eyed the clock and began to rush. She started the coffee machine and placed a slice of bread in the toaster. While she waited for one of them to finish, she pulled out her new thermal mug and strawberry preserves from the fridge. The moment her toast popped up, she took it out, spread the preserves over it, and quickly ate it. When the liquid goodness was ready, she poured as much as she could into her mug and added a little cream and sugar. She stirred it all together before capping it and heading toward the front of her house.

The keys to her car were hanging up next to the door, along with her purse. Another step she had taken last night to prepare for her very early first day. She grabbed both on her way out and managed to make it to her car without dropping anything. With her coffee in the cup holder, purse on driver’s side seat, and key in ignition, she was finally ready. A final yawn tore through her as her finger pressed the garage door opener. Her eyes lazily watching the large white door roll up, allowing her to pull out. Once safely out of the garage, she hit the button again to shut it. She took a huge swig of her coffee, the hot liquid deliciously burning her throat, then she headed to the bank.

Thankfully, the building wasn't too far from her house. It took her about ten minutes to pull into the parking lot. Assuming the company would want customers to have the closer parking spots, she parked in the back. Her heels tapped against the cracked black top, her coffee and purse in hand as she hurried over to the front door. The manager who had hired her, Garrett Humradge, was standing by the door to let her in. While the hair on his head was brown, his beard had started to turn gray. It was the only thing that had given away his age. His smile was always warm and welcoming, his bright blue eyes sparkling whenever he spoke to her.

"Good morning, Ms. Chambers." His arm stretched out to hold the door open for her.

"Good morning, Mr. Humradge." Rose smiled back at the man, thanking him for holding the door.

"You look tired." His voice full of concern as he let the door shut. "You won't have to be here this early on normal days. I apologize for making training so early."

"Oh no! It's okay." She laughed softly, a feeble attempt to lighten the mood. "I made sure I brought coffee." She smiled, signaling to her thermos and taking another sip.

Garrett smile returned as her lead her into the building. She noticed he locked each door they went through. They made it to the back end of the bank where two private desks sat. One was Garrett's and the other was for a short haired blonde woman. Rose gawked at her, the woman really knew how to put herself together. Her make-up was perfectly layered while her clothes were crisp and expensive looking. She made Rose feel as though her clothes were cheap and unsophisticated. This woman seemed to be about 5 inches taller than Rose and a couple years older than her, but not as old as Garrett.

"Hello." A light smile touched her pink lips. "My name is Nova Kline." She held out a hand for Rose to shake.

"Rose Chambers, it's nice to meet you Ms. Kline." She gently shook her hand, noticing how nicely manicured the lady's fingers were.

"Please, drop the formality. Just call me Nova." Her smile widened, already warming up to Rose.

"Nova and I are going to go over a few basic things with you. Once we open for the day, I'll have you shadowing Nova. You'll probably do that for a day or two, just to make sure you really get the hang of things. Does that sound good?"

"Oh yes, absolutely." Rose nodded in agreement, her lips sipping at her coffee once more.

"Perfect. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask either of us." Garrett gave her a final smile, then walked over to his desk. "Nova, can you show her around for me? I need to get a few things together for Rose’s file."

"Sure." Nova walked around her desk and looked at Rose. "This way, dear." She motioned for Rose to follow her.

The beautiful blonde lead Rose to a large vault at the very back of the building. The giant metal circular door was shut and tightly secured in place. She noticed the lock on the door was much different from the locks on all the other doors. This one not only needed a key, but also had a pad for a code to be punched in. Rose had seen vaults like this in action movies but didn’t realize just how big they actually were. Nova cleared her throat and swiveled around to speak to her.

"This is where we keep everything important. Money, documents, bonds." Rose noticed she didn't open the vault. "Over here is where you'll start."

Nova lead her back the way they came and over to the booths closer to the front of the building. This was where the customers would come up to either withdrawal or deposit money, cash checks, open or close accounts, or any other questions they may have. As they stepped closer to the desks, Rose noticed that all the screens were black. Nova froze for a moment when she noticed this, then rushed over to the closest computer and started tapping on the keyboard. Her right hand frantically grabbing at the mouse and started shaking it around. Rose stared at her, confused by what was going on.

"What’s wrong?" Rose tilted her head slightly to the side, her eyes on the blank computer screen.

"This shouldn't be off. I can't even get it to turn on." She was pushing buttons on the side of the computer, pressing everything on the keyboard, anything to get the screen to do something.

Rose moved closer to Nova, the corner of her eye-catching movement by the entrance. She glanced toward the doors but didn't see anything. She told herself it was lack of sleep, no need to get paranoid. It was simply her mind playing tricks on her. She refocused on the screen Nova was frantically trying to turn on.

"Why is it so important for those to be on right now?" Rose took a nervous sip of her coffee, which was now halfway gone.

"They are connected to the security system that monitors the inside and outside of the building. Even if the power were to go out, these systems would still be on. They are run off a completely different generator. If these are off, someone has been tampering with them."

Rose thought back to the movement she thought she saw only seconds ago. Her mind concocting all differ
ent scenarios, all of them crazier than the last. She forced herself to take a deep breath. Maybe a maintenance man was working on the system and had forgotten to tell Nova or Garrett. It would explain the systems being turned off and even the movement she thought she saw. She hoped it was that simple, but her warning bells told her something else.

  "Garrett? Garrett!"

Nova turned her back to the computers and began making her way back to the office area when a man with long, black, shaggy hair came into view. Nova froze and Rose’s eyes widened as they took in the sight of this mystery man holding a gun to Garrett's head. The man with black hair narrowed his brown eyes at the two of them, giving him a deadly look. Another man with dark red hair came from behind the two men, a gun loosely hanging in his hand. He spotted the woman right away, his hand raising the gun to Nova and Rose.

"On the floor, ladies." The red-haired man let his pale green eyes move back and forth between the two, watching them carefully to see how they would react.

Rose felt her jaw drop and her coffee cup clatter to the floor, along with her purse. Both women quickly got to their hands and knees, their heads down as they both panicked. The black-haired man shoved Garrett toward the two. He stumbled, falling to his knees with his back to the unknown men. He quickly turned around, afraid to have his back to these men. Garrett remained on the ground, an arm wrapping around Nova and Rose to pull them close. A third, and final, man came in from another room, also carrying a gun. This man had light brown hair that was combed back. His arms, hands, and neck were completely covered in tattoos and he had a shiny silver loop on one side on his bottom lip. His grey eyes grazed over the three of them, his eyes landing on Rose.

"There weren't supposed to be three people here." Growled the black-haired man.

"There's an easy way to fix this." A smirk came across the tattooed man’s face, his gun relaxing in his hand. "Which one of you has the keys to all the locks?"

Garrett and Nova both raised their hand. Rose felt her heart skip a beat. They must have planned for only Garrett and Nova, not a new trainee. She was the only one who couldn’t offer anything to these men. She swallowed hard, she was completely useless. When the gun aimed at the three of them, her heart began pounding hard. Her panic spiking higher, her mouth and throat drying as her hands trembled at her sides. He was going to shoot her.

"And who is able to unlock the vault?"

Nova's hand wavered slightly, then fell to her side. Although she was an assistant manager and had a set of keys, Garrett was the only one who had full access to everything. He was the only one who knew the code and the only one who would be able to get into every deposit box inside the vault. Rose tightly shut her eyes, her head hanging and her hair falling in front of her face.

  "Problem solved."

The man’s deep voice was followed by a bang that made her ears ring, despite the gun not being as loud as a normal one. Two screams filled the room, one male and one female. Rose felt her body tremble and her eyes squeeze shut. She couldn’t tell where she had been shot. In fact, she didn’t feel any pain at all. She felt Garrett’s arm lift off her shoulders, his voice sending silvers down her spine.

"Nova!" Garrett screamed and picked up the woman’s limp body.

Rose’s eyes popped opened and peered to her left, bile burning its way up her throat at the sight. Nova had been shot in her forehead, a stream of blood rolling down the center of her face. Her eyes open but dull and void of life. Garrett was holding her, blood staining his white button up shirt. Tears began to slip down Rose's cheeks, her teeth biting into her bottom lip to prevent a scream.

"Now there are only two." The gray eyed man laughed, then pointed his gun at Garrett. "You, get up and unlock the volt." He gestured toward the back of the bank.

When Garrett didn't move from his spot, the black-haired man hit him over the head with the butt of his gun. Garrett grunted in pain, a hand reaching for the sore spot and pulling away with a little blood of his own.

"Get moving." He growled, shoving Garrett toward the back of the bank once he stood up.

"What are we doing about her?" The red head casually pointed his gun at Rose.

The gray eyed man didn't say anything, instead he took a few steps toward her. She coward and tried to back away from him, her body too weak to stand up. He reached out and grabbed a handful of her hair, yanking it and forcing her to stop moving. Rose whimpered, her body trembling worse than before. Her eyes shut in attempt to block out everything.

"What's your name, little bunny?" A smirk on his lips.

When she didn't answer, the man’s grip tightened and he crouched down in front of her. He pressed the tip of his gun under her chin and made her look up at him. Fresh tears falling from her blue eyes.

  "Answer me."

"Ro-Rose." Her voice pitiful and broken.

"Rose. You're going to listen to everything I say, right?"

She hesitated, fearful of what he wanted with her.

  "Ye-Yes."

  "Good. Stand up."

He stood up first, waiting for her to follow his orders. She was slow, but managed to get to her feet. Her eyes averted from Nova's motionless body and she wrapped her arms around her slim frame, her eyes on the floor.

"Go check on how the vault is going." The gray eyed man commanded the red-head.

With his attention back on Rose, he shoved her against the wall, an arm on each side of her. He was much taller than her and his bulky, muscular body dwarfed her. His tattoos and piercings intimidating her farther.

"You weren't supposed to be here, little bunny." His eyes slowly trailing up and down her body.

"Then let me go." She eyes looking anywhere but at his. "I won't tell the cops."

The man's laugh was deep and throaty. One hand moving to her hip and the other cupping her chin to turn her face toward him.

"You know that's not going to happen." His mouth only inches from hers.

"Please." She whimpered, her voice failing her.

"I like when you beg." He laughed again, inching closer to her.

His nostrils flared, taking in her scent. His hand gripped her chin harder, jerking her face toward him.

  "Look at me."

Her eyes shifted to his, his gaze extremely intense. She felt a blush creeping across her face. His hot breath fanned across her lips causing her blush to deepen and her heart to slam inside her rib cage. She watched as his tongue slid across his bottom lip, the tip nudging his lip ring.

"I'm going to enjoy devouring you."

Jace stared into the deep blue eyes of the beautiful brunette in front of him. He loved the way her face was turning red and how she had a hard time looking at him. He wondered if she was a virgin and hoped she was. He wanted to play with her, tease her. Her nervousness and innocence peaking his interest, he liked women who were gentle, soft, and overall more feminine. In his line of work, it didn’t happen often. They were mostly fowl-mouthed, loud, and complete bitches. He wanted a taste, just a little. He pressed his lips to her plump ones, his tongue eager to be inside. The moment she gasped, he took his chance. She tasted sweet with a hint of the coffee, her mouth molding perfectly with his. She tried to turn her head away, but he wouldn’t allow it. He could feel her small hands pressing against his chest, her body struggling to no avail.

"Get off her!" A man's voice yelled from the other side of the room.

Jace paused, reluctant to break free from his beauty to see the older man from before, awkwardly pointing either Raiden's or Axel's gun at him. He released Rose, slowly backing away from her. He had a feeling the man wouldn't be able to hit him, at least not fatally, but didn't want to risk it.

"Rose, catch. Take them and run." The older man tossed a set of keys to her.

Jace watched as the small brunette caught the keys, then raced to the door and left the building. He turned to face the gray bearded man, the gun in his hand shak
ing slightly.

"What are you going to do with that, old man?" He laughed, his hand tightened on his own gun at his side.

"I was able to knock out your friends, I should have no problem with you."

  "I'm not like them."

In a split second, Jace lifted his gun from his side and fired at the man before he could even react. He hit him in the chest and watched as the gun fell from his grip. Jace shot once more, the other man finally falling to his knees and eventually flat on his face as he bled out on the glossy tiles.

  "Pathetic." His eyes rolling.

Jace growled when he saw taillights leaving the parking lot, but as he looked around the room he spotted a purse laying on the ground. A smirk crept onto his lips, his long strides quickly taking him to the bag and scooping it up. Sure enough, it was Rose’s bag. Her license giving him all the information he would need to find her. Stuffing the ID into his pocket, he dropped the bag and walked past the dying man, around the counter, and toward the volt. His eyes settled on his two men who were now getting up from the floor.
