Jace's Pet Read online

"What the fuck!" He yelled, anger boiling over. "How could you not handle one man?"

"He caught us by surprise." Raiden trailed off, his usual goofy grin gone from his face.

Axel was running a hand through his long black hair. Frustration and embarrassment on his face, he growled before speaking.

"There's wasn't supposed to be three people!" He snapped.

"I killed one and you still couldn't handle it." His glare on Axel. “Don't tell me it's because there were three. Grab as much as you can and let's get the fuck out of here."

Neither of his men had anything else to say, which was good because he wasn't very happy about Rose getting away. Mainly because she could now report everything that she had seen. None of them had worn masks because they were always able to take out the security cameras and witnesses. The other reason was he wanted her. They had come here to rob the bank, which they had done to multiple banks in the past few months. However, he had never had a hostage like Rose. Women rarely caught his attention the way she did. He was going to find her before they moved from this area. He was going to capture and cage his new pet. No matter what.

Rose raced home faster than she had ever driven in her life, adrenaline fueling her. When she got home she realized she didn’t have her purse on her, fear stabbing her in the chest. She frantically grabbed her landline phone and called 911 to report everything that had happened. She couldn't stop her body from shaking and her heart refused to calm down. Twice she had to be asked to slow down as she gave a complete description of each man to the cops. After hanging up the phone, she felt alone and afraid. Nova was dead and Garrett might be as well. He didn't seem like the type of man who could kill but the man with gray eyes could do it without a second thought. There was no remorse, no guilt. The man with grey eyes burned in her mind, she could see his tattooed arms and feel the phantom touch of his lips on hers. It made her shudder.

She went to the kitchen; the sun starting to come up now. She was thankful for the light as it offered her some comfort. Her adrenaline slowly came down, leaving her in a dull daze. She reached for a glass cup from a cabinet and a few ice cubes from the freezer then she went to the sink to fill it with water. She began to space out, her eyes focused on nothing in particular as the sun warmed her face through the window. Her mind on everything that had just happened. She would never be able to forget the look in Nova's eyes after she was shot or the way the three men looked. She was grateful to have escaped, but feared they would come back and kill her. Something about no lose ends.

Rose gasped when the water over flowed her cup and flooded onto her hand. She quickly shut off and set the glass down to she could dry her hand. Her paper towels sat next to her knife set, her eyes forgetting its original target and looking over the black handles. She shook her head, dried her hand, and grabbed her glass. She only took a few sips before dumping it down the sink. Without realizing it, she grabbed a knife and headed to her bedroom.

A week went by, Rose hadn't heard anything about the robbers but she had been informed that Garrett had been killed. He had been shot twice and bled out before he made it to the hospital. She felt her heart break, both Nova and Garrett had been so kind to her in the couple of minutes she had known them. If it wasn’t for Garrett, she probably would be dead as well.

Knifes had been placed all around the house, just in case she needed a weapon. She lived in a small town where they didn’t know how to handle situations like this and the only protection they offered her was a phone number. She didn’t even have any close family or friends to stay with or have around for support. Her paranoia had spiked, her mind constantly playing tricks on her. At night, she heard noises and saw movement from the corner of her eye. Every time she fell asleep, she dreamed of the tattooed man or Nova’s lifeless eyes. She would wake up trembling and drenched in sweat.

Tuesday was no exception, her nightmares waking her up at 2:39am. She sighed softly and rubbed her eyes. She wanted the dreams to stop. It was normal for her to panic given what she had been through but she had to get over it at some point. She needed to be able to live again, to work again. With a dry mouth and still adjusting eyes, she went to the kitchen to pour herself a glass of water. She stared out the window, but made sure to do it after her glass was filled. She drained half the cup right away, her throat released from the itchy dryness.

  "Hello, little bunny."

Rose froze, her cup slipping from her hand and into the sink where a big chunk broke off. She knew that voice. Knew that pet name. It couldn't be him, it had to be her mind playing tricks. Or maybe she was still asleep and having the most vivid nightmare yet. She slowly turned around, her heart slamming in her chest. A tall man leaned on the frame to the entrance of to her living room, his arms folded across his chest. She could see the muscles of his arms bulging, his tattoos completely covering his arms, and a small silver glint at the corner of his mouth.

"You've given us in a lot of trouble, you know. We've never had someone able to identify us."

He uncrossed his arms and straightened his body. He watched her every more as he started walking toward her. Each step he took, she moved away from him. One hand gliding along the counter top. If she could get over to the fridge, she knew she had left a knife next to it.

"We were going hit another bank close by before leaving, but it seems we can't do that now."

"St-Stay back." Rose felt her finger tips bump the fridge and reached for the knife next to it.

"You've made us lose a lot of money."

"It's not yours to take!" Her voice gaining some confidence.

"Everything is mine to take if I want it." He stepped closer, his eyes darkening. "Anything I want."

"I won't report you if you leave now." Her voice shrinking back to its weak state.

"Of course you won't. I'm not going to let you do it twice." The gap between them closer.

All of her dreams and fears were coming true. He was going to kill her. There was no way she could win against a man of his size. In a way, she hoped it would be quick like Nova and Garrett. The moment he was about a foot away, she gripped the knife firmly and aimed for his arm but he was quicker than she expected. He easily dodged the sharp blade and grabbed her wrist tightly. She screamed loudly as he effortlessly twisted her wrist painful, the knife falling from her hand.

"Nice try." Amusement danced in his eyes.

He quickly bent her arm behind her back and pulled up to cause more pain. His lips parted to speak but before he could, she kicked up her led and smashed him between the legs with her knee. Instead of words, a groan came from his mouth. He let go of her and fell to his knees, his hands rubbing himself to stop the pain.

"Fuck!" His voice a growl as he recovered.

She squeezed around him, her eyes set on the knife laying on the floor. She took one step and his large hand clamped down on her ankle. She whimpered softly as she landed the floor on her stomach. Her hands desperately clawed for the knife. She managed to get ahold of the handle but before she couldn't even turn over he was on top of her. His body crushing hers, making sure she was unable to move. His hand engulfed her hand holding the knife, controlling her arm and placing the blade at her neck. She swallowed hard, this was it.

"Ple-Please stop!" Her bottom lip quivered.

"I like you, little bunny." He whispered into her ear. "So I'll give you two choices. I can slit your throat and let you choke on your own blood, or-" He pressed the knife harder to her skin, ready to drag it across. "-you can become my pet."

  "Pet? What do you-"

"Choose. I'm an impatient man with shit to do." The knife softly biting into her skin.

"I-I'll be your pet!" She sobbed, her breath coming out irregularly.

"Was that so hard?" He chuckled and released her, taking the knife from her hand and standing up. "On your feet. I'll give you two minutes to grab a few things."

She was completely unsure of what she
had just agreed to. She scrambled to her feet, her hand touching where the knife had been. There was blood, but very little. It would heal in a day or two.

"Hurry up or you'll have nothing."

She hurried off to her bedroom, grabbed an old bag and began stuffing it with a few things, mostly clothes, then went to the bathroom and grabbed her tooth brush, tooth paste, and a brush. As she walked back out she look at the window. Her house was only a one story, it would be easy to get out. She took a step towards it, her fingers gently touching the glass when a hand roughly grabbed her upper arm and yanked her back. Her head instantly turned to look at the man.

"You're not escaping." The man's eyes burned into hers. "Let's go. No screaming. No fighting. No running." He pulled a gun from his waist band. "I'll take you out before you know what happened."

She nodded her head to show that she understood. He let go of her arm and she put her backpack on. She kept waiting to wake up, her mind having a hard time wrapping itself around everything.

"What do you mean by pet?"

"You obey me. You entertain me. And above all, you're mine."

Rose quickly slipped a pair of flats on and silently followed the tattooed man to the front of her house, it was a very odd feeling. He made sure she was walking right next to him, and rather close for her comfort. They continued walking for about five minutes before reaching his completely blacked out Chevy Silverado. He opened the door to that passengers’ side, his eyes looking down at her and waiting for her to climb in. She started at the height for a second before attempting to get it. She felt a little awkward, the gap between the ground and seat forcing her to bend over the seat to get up. She heard him laugh just before a firm hand came down hard on her ass.

  "Ow!" She squealed.

"Hurry up." His voice playful but impatient.

He closed the door when she was fully inside and headed to the other side of the truck. As soon as he got into the driver's seat, he started the car and headed down the road at a reasonable speed. A minute after that, he cracked the window and lit a cigarette. She turned her attention to the window on her side and tried to distract herself.

Rose was quiet the entire ride. Wherever it was that he was taking her, he didn't seem to mind that she knew how to get there. They must be leaving this area soon, especially with the police looking for them. She kept hoping a cop would pull them over and the man would be arrested, but he wasn't doing anything that warranted being pulled over. She tried to keep her anxiety down. She knew she was going to be taken to another state, possibly multiple states. She kept telling herself that no matter where he took her, she could always try to escape. She would find a way to get away from this violent man.

A couple more times during the ride he cracked the window open to light another cigarette. Although he flicked the ashes outside, she could still smell the strong stench coming from the stick. She had known people who smoked, could smell in on them whenever they came close to her. It had always been a scent that made her nose scrunch, no matter how often she was around it.

Eventually, he turned on to a dark gravel road that lead to a decent sized cabin at the end. He pulled up to the front and parked the car. Rose froze for a moment. They were surrounded by huge evergreen trees with no other houses for miles. It looked like they were staying in someone's vacation home. Her train of thought was broken when her door was thrown open, the man staring at her. She flinched, her instinct making her scoot away from him, but her seat belt kept her in place. She could have sworn he rolled his eyes at her.

"Get out." He grumbled, his large hand reaching over her to release the seat belt.

Again, she felt her body shrink away from him. His arms wrapped around her and easily pulled her from the truck. He set her down on the gravel path, then shut the door and hit the lock button.

She was thankful it was warm out. In her panic, she hadn't even thought about what she was wearing. Because of the nightmares she'd been having, she always woke up sweating and started to wear tank tops and shorts to bed, which is what she wore now. Thankfully, she had her bra and underwear on. Most nights she didn't wear them, but with her concern of someone breaking in she started to wear them under her PJs. She had to take comfort in the little things.

The man took hold of her upper arm and led her into the house. The clock on the far wall said it was almost 4:30am but everyone was awake. At least she assumed it was everyone. She recognized the two other men from the bank, the red-head and the one with black hair. There was also a woman with choppy, shoulder length brown and blonde hair sitting next to the man with black hair. Her legs were casually laying on top of his. They were both watching the red-head play a game on the TV when they walked in. The moment the door shut, the two on the couch looked over at them.

"I thought you said you were taking care of her. Why the fuck did you bring her here?" The black-haired man shoved the woman's legs off him, stood up and walked over to them. "You should have just shot her."

"I wanted to keep her." He grabbed Rose's chin, forcing her to look at him.

Rose’s cheeks heated up. She felt even more uncomfortable than before, if that was even possible. She wrapped one of her arms around her. As soon as he released her, she tilted her head down. Her eyes avoiding everyone's stare.

"She's rather scrawny." The blonde spoke from the couch, her arms crossed in front of her. "I didn't know you liked flat chested women."

Rose briefly glanced down at her body, she knew she wasn't big but she didn't think B-cups were considered flat. She shook off the woman's words, they didn't matter and she didn’t care. She wasn’t trying to attract any more attention that she already had.

"What are you talking about? She's cute." The red-head had paused his game and was making his way over.

Rose took a step back, her backpack hitting the door behind her. The red-head's pale green eyes glued to her as he came closer. The look in his eyes were similar to the way the tattooed man looked at her except this man didn’t look as frightening.

"Are you going to share her, Jace?" The red-head asked, his gaze never moving from Rose.

"No, he needs to fucking kill her." The black-haired man snapped, his eyes blazing with anger. "She's a loose end, get rid of her!"

"I agree with Axel." The women retorted, siding with the black-haired man. "I'm not getting caught because of her."

"Well of course you do Morgan, he's your boyfriend." The red-head turned to glare at the other woman. “And you wouldn’t be caught with shit, you’ve never don’t anything but-”

"Shut up, Raiden! Either way, I think the bitch should be ended. She knows too much and there's no need for her to be here." She finally stood up and made her way to Axel's side, her silted eyes on Rose. "She ratted you guys out to the cops, they have sketches of your faces now."

"I don't share and I'm not killing her. It’s a small town, this will blow over in a few months. We're done with this conversation." Jace's voice was tired and irritated. "We'll be leaving in a few hours."

Jace grabbed Rose's arm and dragged her past the three standing there, none of them daring to say anything else. He took her down a hall, stopping at the third door. He shoved her inside the moment the door was opened, he shoved her inside. She lost her balance from the sudden action and fell to her hands and knees. She heard the door shut shortly after she landed.

"I like that position." He laughed above her, walking past her and sitting on the bed. "Come here." He motioned with his finger.

She started to stand up, but his voice stopped her.

"No. Crawl to me." A smirk on his lips.

She hesitated, embarrassed to crawl to him. She would have rebelled and stood up if it had been a normal guy, but this man had a gun on him. And he wasn't shy about using it. She slipped her backpack off and set it next to her then crawled over to him. She kept her head down and could practically feel her cheeks turning red. Her knees throbbed, the hardwood doin
g nothing to cushion her. He laughed at her, two fingers reaching under her chin and tilting her head up. She sat with her legs under her, her hands resting on the floor. An imagine of a sitting dog flashing in her head. She watched as his tongue played with his lip ring, memories of his kiss flooding back to her.

"Your face is turning red again. What’s on your mind?"

Rose swallowed hard and turned her face away from him. His smirk faded, his hand lowered to wrap around her slim neck.

"Look at me." He ordered. "You're mine, little bunny. Don't forget that." He squeezed lightly, warning her. "I don't like to be tested and I don't mind punishing you."

Rose could feel her eyes brim with tears as she swallowed hard. Her eyes meeting his smoldering ones and her lip giving a slight quiver as her tears pushed harder for release. She briefly wondered if she should have chosen death.
